Anubhav Sinha has to be credited for attacking very different subjects. In Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai, Sinha does just that in a very realistic way. The film is inspired by the Ben Stiller flick Meet the Parents and that shows in most parts of the movie, making the experience a bit sour.

Sam (Om Puri) is a doting Dad who treats his daughter like a princess. Unfortunately, he believes that no one can be as loving to his daughter Pakhi (Sakshi) as he. But life has different plans for him as Pakhi grows up to be a beautiful woman and eventually falls in love with Samar (Priyanshu). The couple now wants to get married and this is where the nightmare begins for Sam. He tests Samar time and time again to try and break his resolve and give his daughter back to him. He tries all he can but in the end it looks like he has to give up. Then, like a ray of light from heaven, he finds out that Samar was a cop who was thrown off the force. With this piece of information, he decides to break off all ties with him and calls the wedding off. Samar eventually makes Sam see light and all is well that ends well with Samar and Pakhi ending up in matrimony.

The movie belongs totally to Om Puri and he is hilarious in every sequence. The director has done a much better job since Tum Bin though, from a casting point of view, he could have chosen a better actor than Priyanshu. He obviously needs a little more maturing on screen. Sakshi does her job to good effect. Nikhil-Vinay`s music is probably the only stale part of this movie, as many songs just don?t seem sensible enough for the movie. It is doubtful whether the movie will be able to sustain itself at the box office because it caters to a very limited audience and has no star power. If that is not an issue then APBKDH is the movie for you.
