Director Sundar C's Action is stylishly mounted, briskly paced and there are thrills aplenty. But to put it politely, the film is dumb from the word go, with no logic or originality, borrowing scenes from umpteen Hollywood action thrillers.

It is not a particularly a riveting plot. Subash(Vishal) is a military officer who is also the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (Pala.Karuppaiah). Subash's elder brother (Ramki) is the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and he is also named as the successor by his dad at a political rally.  But at the rally, the leader of the National party dies in a bomb blast and the blame falls on Subash's elder brother.

Subash's fiance Meera(Aishwarya Lekshmi) also dies in the attack. Now Subash goes on a mission with his undercover agent Diya (Tamannaah) to find out the criminal mastermind behind the bomb blast.

While the story looks good on paper, Sundar C executes the film like a B-grade mass masala action entertainer in a dramatic manner. The gravity-defying stunts give the feel of watching poorly CG based video game on the big screen. The climax portion featuring Vishal in a bearded look as Pathan is a big disappointment.

Tamannaah struggles to carry the heavy-duty action scenes and adds glamour whenever needed. The super talented Aishwarya Lekshmi looks pretty but is wasted in a cliched, weak role. Akanksha Puri is there for added glamour. There are so many logical loopholes in the Pakistan portion that Vishal comes out clean as if handles Pakistan military and police look like a bunch of goons in North Madras.

All the actors in the film behave like caricatures. To add insult to injury, Yogi Babu as a hacker based in London and the comedian who goes with Vishal and Tamannaah to Istanbul on an important mission, irritates.

The problem is that Action has a moth-eaten script from some 70's vault. The plot is formulaic, while the screenplay is riddled with cinematic liberties. Technically Dudley 's cinematography is adequate for an action thriller and Hiphop Tamizha's music is just okay. Overall, Action is a below-average action thriller from Sundar C- Vishal combo.

Verdict: Below Average
