Actor and producer Vishal won yet another election after he was elected president of the Tamil Film Producers Council on Sunday (April 2).
The actor who produces films under the banner of his 'Vishal Film Factory' won by a margin of 154 votes, beating veterans Kothanda Ramaiah (KR Infotainment) and R Radhakrishanan (Maruthi Films) . It was a closely fought contest, and now Vishal will be holding the position of the General Secretary of Nadigar Sangam or South India Artists Association and the President of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC)
Prakashraaj and Gautham Vasudev Menon are elected vice-presidents of the council and S.R. Prabhu, who heads Dream Warrior Pictures, was elected treasurer.
The elections began at 8.30 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m and 1,059 valid votes were polled. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suhasini Mani Rathnam, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Manobala and Nasser were among the first to cast their votes. The polling was held amidst high security at Kanthasamy Naidu College.
When press reporters asked Vishal on what will be his first action after the victory, he said that it will be to help the farmers. “Except Mysskin sir, our team has won the major posts in TFPC. But we welcome Mr. Kathiresan (defeated Mysskin) too, our team’s motto is only to work towards the betterment of the council and there will not be any ego clash”, said Vishal. He also added that his team will first work to ensure the release of small and big films, which are in the can and will also be approaching the Tamil Nadu government on the State Awards and subsidy for small budget films.
