Dr.Biju?s Akashathinte Niram, which was in the news when it was premiered at this year?s Shanghai International Film Festival and later, when it won a couple of awards at the recent Kerala state film awards, is only aimed at the lovers of serious cinema.

The film has a backdrop, which is similar to the new age movies of the kind, but the absence credible storyline is always felt. Dr.Biju has succeeded in creating the right mood with beautiful visuals by M J Radhakrishnan and nice music by Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly, which has evidently been inspired by several modern day filmmakers including South Korean director Kim Ki Duk.

But what lacks here is genuine content or the philosophical angles that are synonymous with such bona fide art house movies.

The film narrates the story of a burglar played by Indrajith, who comes to an island where an old man (Nedumudi Venu), his confidant (Anoop Chandran), a young girl (Amala Paul) and a not yet in his teens boy (Master Govardhan) lives peacefully. The characters have no names and they talk not much either. And when they talk, it is mostly obscure.

If you are ready to get into a world of your own and give meanings to the curious dialogues and sequences on screen, this one could work for you in parts. In fact, the actors seem to be clueless about what is happening or where the film is heading. Prithviraj appears in a brief role that has no real consequence to the story. Amala Paul has nothing much to do either.

Akashathinte Niram is strictly for those who have the appetite for serious, art house movies. Even then, with the lack of an interesting storyline, the film may not be an engaging affair after all. Watch it if it suits your taste.
