The Tamil film producers, theater owners and digital service providers have found an amicable solution for the VPF (Virtual Print Fee) until March 2021.
In an official statement, the Tamil Film Active Producers Association has mentioned that the service providers have reduced the VPF by a considerable percentage. The new fee structure will be followed until all three parties arrive at a permanent solution.
Sources say that several small and medium budget films are now planning for a theatrical release before March 30 so that there is no need to pay exorbitant VPF. The Tamil Film Active Producers Association has also asked their members to cooperate with them regarding the newspaper advertisements. Two leading dailies increased their advertisement charges by 300% so the producers have decided to not promote their films on these two platforms.
The Tamil Film Active Producers Association has asked the producers to promote their films on social media platforms, TV channels, and FM channels for the time being.
