Anuraga Karikkinvellam review- Good

Khalid Rahman

Star Cast

Biju Menon, Asif Ali, Asha Sharath

Once in a while there comes some films that steal your heart with its innate honesty and skilful presentation. Débutante director Khalid Rahman’s Anuraga Karikkinvellam is one such cute little gem.

The film presents a few characters that are strikingly real and eminently relatable. Raghu (Biju Menon) is a cop, who doesn't display his affection for his wife (Asha Sharath) or kids. His son Abhilash (Asif Ali) is a struggling architect, who spends most of his time fooling around with his friends.

Abhilash finds his girlfriend Elizabeth (Rejisha Vijayan) quite nagging and her possessive nature force him to go for a breakup. Meanwhile, one incident in Raghu’s life changes his whole attitude as well.

The film beautifully shows the strange connection between all these events. The issues that the characters face, the angst, the fun, the confusions and the realisations are all so normal that the incidents can easily strike a chord with the viewer. The comedy is genuine, the emotions are true and the packaging is perfect.

With a well written script by Naveen Bhaskar, Khalid Rahman has presented the story in a gripping manner. Jimshi Khalid’s visuals are top notch, while Prashanth Pillai’s music suits the mood.

Biju Menon is in top form and he conveys the feelings that his character goes through so effortlessly. Asif Ali displays the frustrations of a youth very well. Asha Sharath is subtle and impressive. Rejisha Vijayan, who plays Elizabeth, needs an applause for her confidence and charm.

Also the rest of the cast, which includes Soubin Shahir, Sudheer Karamana, Sreenath Bhasi and Irshad, perform their roles quite efficiently.

Anuraga Karikkinvellam is one of those rare movies which has its heart at the right place. Grab a pack of popcorn and enjoy this movie at the theatres straightaway. This one leaves you with a smile and also, some good memories!

Verdict: Good
