Debutant director Thyagarajan Kumararaja's Aranya Kandam produced by SPB Charan, has won the Grand Jury award for the best movie at the prestigious 7th South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in New York.
The award was announced on Tuesday (Nov 2) at the concluding day of the festival.
The SAIFF is the largest Asian Film festival in New York which is being held to identify the talents of promising filmmakers in one of the world's largest film industries and to create a right platform and exposure
Aranya Kandam is yet to commercially release in Tamil Nadu. The film has Ravi Krishna, Jackie Shroff and Yamini Ponappa in the lead.
It has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. None of the team members of the film were available for comment as they are in New York and would be back in Chennai only on Saturday.
