In Bhimilee, a group of men?s passion is Kabaddi but they always end up being the losers. On the other hand, a poor guy Suri (Naani) hopes to become a part of the team but never gets a chance to. He also works for the landlord to clear off his family`s debts. One day during the carnival at his village, he falls in love with a girl (Sharanya). Suri, who till now has been treated as extra, plays a crucial role in the team`s victory. So the team prepares to go to Rajamundry to participate in the state level competitions. Suri is very excited, as Rajamundry is the place where his lover stays. How the team succeeds with the help of the coach (Kishore), is the core of the story.

Sports based films are not new to Tollywood. Sye, Kabaddi Kabaddi and Okkadu had sports as the main theme and they are successful too. Now comes Bhimili Kabaddi Jattu, which is a complete sports film with good drama to sustain the interest of the audiences. It does not break new ground, nor does it tell a dramatically different story. But what it does have is all the necessary ingredients to be a good sports film.

Remake of a Tamil hit movie, Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Bhimili Kabaddi Jattu has effectively been changed for the Telugu audience. The story is executed neatly with good humor and some melodious music. So it has worked well. On the downside the first half is a bit slow and predictable, and has no emotional basis for the main conflict.

Naani looks macho in this film compared to his earlier films. Although he has not many dialogues in the movie, he delivers the goods with right body language. There is honesty in his action. And then there is a newcomer Kishore who play the role of a coach. He steals the show with his raw looks and real performance. Saranya is cute as the village belle and her chemistry with Naani is a major plus point to the movie.

Director Tatineni Satya?s narration is good. He has effectively brought in comedy within the rural settings of the movie. For a first timer, he has shown enough sparks. The film?s strength lies in the script and narration. So the original writer deserves praise too. Music by newcomer Selva Ganesh is another asset to the movie; he has elevated many scenes with his score.

Bhimili Kabaddi Jattu, on the whole, surely keeps you glued to your seat because the match scenes look real. It?s a sports film in the true spirit and it is convincingly told. Good attempt, and nice film.
