Chennai Box-Office – Mar 27 to 29

Tuesday, 31 March, 2015, 07:40

In the first quarter of 2015, a record 60 Tamil films has been released, with hardly two or three making money from theatricals alone. The last Friday of March saw another five films releasing including Valiyavan. The Jai starrer Valiyavan directed by hit maker Saravanan cost around Rs 16 Crore. The film was virtually a solo big release, and with Sathyam Cinemas releasing it in Chennai city, it got all big multiplex screens and opened at number one position. However the opening is below average as critics tore into the film.At number two is Kakki Sattai, which has now been declared a hit. And in the third place is the Malayalam Nivin Pauly youth film Oru Vadakkan Selfie which took a good opening with even Ega big screen going full for evening shows and Mayajaal playing six shows. In the fourth position is Ivanukku Thannila Gandam, which is above average considering its budget. And in the fifth place is Rajathandiram.
