The big surprise was Dulquer’s long in the making Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, a romantic thriller that worked due to good writing and packaging by debutant director Desingh. The film after a slow opening picked up on day two due to good reviews and has grossed around Rs 75 lakhs in three days and is at number one slot.

And the big surprise at the number two position is the unknown controversial caste-based drama Draupathi, which grossed around Rs 55 lakhs. In the third place is the feel-good rom-com Oh My Kadavule which grossed around Rs 2.50 Cr from Chennai City in 17 days, super for a small budget film without any big stars.

In the fourth place is the atmospheric horror thriller The Invisible Man, which has taken a good opening. Karthick Naren’s Mafia has not lived up to expectations and has collapsed and has just managed to hang on to the fifth position by its skin.
