Movie Title

Star Cast

Diganth Manchale, Bhama, Samyukta, Harish Raj

When the project was announced, it led to several controversies because the title was the same as that of blockbuster Hindi movie. But the director and producer are right in claiming that not even in the remotest manner is the movie in any way linked to Hindi Burfee.

Diganth Manchale made his mark by acting in movies of acclaimed film-maker Yogaraj Bhat. He further consolidated his position in Sandalwood by acting in films of other directors. However, in the last two years, his career graph took a nosedive because of selection of poor scripts. Burfee could well stop Diganth?s career from sliding further.

Burfee is neither a wonder nor a blockbuster product, but it does bring out the versatility of Diganth as an actor. He should take advantage of his positioning in Burfee. The script is different from the routine Kannada movies being churned out.

The protagonist Diganth is a techie, who earns quick name and fame because of his innovations. That fetches him a lifetime opportunity to travel to the US. But his attempts to excel are always stymied by his parents, who are keen on seeing their son tie the knot. A frustrated Diganth decides to select his life partner and takes the online matrimonial route. He likes a girl (Bhama), who invites him to Punjab en route to the US. Once he lands in Punjab is when the story takes a curious turn.

The movie has been shot in Punjab, including the Wagah Border, providing a refreshing appeal. The making of the movie is also different, but where it fails is the narration. The second half fails to impress and is dull paced. Bhama tries her bit to make her presence felt, including through an item dance. Samyukta, the second heroine of the movie, hardly makes an effort to get into the character.

The support star cast and the melodious tunes are the saving grace of the movie. Diganth could have been better supported by the heroines and lively narration. But what begins as an interesting plot fades in the post-intermission session. The climax is routine and the movie ends on expected lines.
