Fans of Thalapathy Vijay are celebrating the twentieth release anniversary of their matinee idol's blockbuster romantic comedy film Kushi which was later made in Telugu and Hindi.
Directed by SJ Suryah, all the songs composed by Deva are chartbusters. In a recent interaction with The Hindu, Deva opened up about the music of the film. "I see Kushi as an important film in my career because it changed my image in the industry. Before Kushi, people thought I would only compose peppy gaana tracks. Kushi earned me an image that I can also compose melodious numbers like Mottu Ondru".
Deva also confessed the traces of Michael Jackson and Portuguese music are evident in Mottu Ondru and Vaa Vennila numbers but it's not a deliberate effort. Deva says sometimes directors insist to produce songs that influenced them.
Deva also heaped praise on Suryah saying that the director has an extraordinary musical sense and rightly understands the taste of the audiences.
