The amazing success of writer and director Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam, which released in 2013, redefined the economics of Malayalam cinema. The movie crossed the 50 crore mark in collections, a sum that was not even in the wildest dreams of Mollywood until then.
Mohanlal played a villager, who had to do certain things to save his family during an unprecedented crisis. The thriller had remakes in almost every language in India, and even in Sinhalese and Chinese.
Now the sequel to Drishyam is being directed by Jeethu Joseph. The shooting of Drishyam 2 has started in Kochi and Mohanlal will join the action later this week, as he is on his yearly Ayurveda treatment in Palakkad.
