The trade heaved a sigh of relief as India’s campaign in the Cricket World Cup 2019 ended on Wednesday evening. The first semi-final match between India and New Zealand which started on Tuesday went on to Wednesday due to rains, resulting in low footfalls on both days in theatres.
And with India getting eliminated, a large number of films releasing this weekend heaved a sigh of relief. The finals on Sunday would have eaten into the business, but now with India eliminated, people seem to have lost interest in the cup.
This week there are five Tamil releases. The tussle will be between Jiiva’s Gorilla which has a Chimpanzee as its major attraction and Yogi Babu’s Gurkha which has a wonder-dog! The other releases are Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari, Thozhar Venkatesan and Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2.
The big Hindi release is Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30. The English release of the week is Yesterday. The Telugu release is Dorasaani and Malayalam film is Marconi Mathai which features Jayaram and Vijay
