Gururaj, Yethiraj, Rakul Preeth Singh, Srinivasamurthy, Sudha Belawadi
Comedy hero Jaggesh?s (100 plus films actor and BJP politician) son Gururaj in his debut film proves that he is promising.
Gururaj in a remake of the Tamil film 7G Rainbow Colony has the right selection of film for his debut. He is the boy-next-door kind and the script demands this kind of a guy. Though the second half is protracted and boring, ?Gilli? is attractive to watch in parts.
Protagonist Gilli (Gururaj) is a lower middle class guy who is a useless loafer living with his parents. He has failed in the exams and spends time smoking, drinking and chases girls. When a north Indian family moves into the colony, Gilli falls in love with Anitha (Rakul Preet Singh).
Initially Anitha looks down on him but slowly she becomes close to him and realizes that Gilli truly loves her. She gets him a job as a mechanic in a scooter factory. When Anitha?s marriage is fixed with another guy she elopes with Gilli. But tragedy is in store as the climax unveils.
Gururaj is apt for the role and he excels in most of the scenes while Rakul Preeth Singh looks very beautiful. Veteran Srinivasamurthy as a caring father scores over all. Yuvan Shanker Raja original songs are good. S Krishna camera work supports the mood of the film.
