Cinematographer Vijay Milton?s second film as director Goli Soda is a gutsy and outstanding film. The fizz lasts long after you leave the theatre. It is like a whiff of fresh wind that soothes your heart and at the same make you feel happy and contended. Gorgeously shot and crisply edited Goli Soda is like heady wine that delivers a welcome kick.

The film works due to the triumph of honest writing, freshness of its cast who does not have any star trappings, and the speed of the film. The backbone of the film is Pandiraj?s script and Vijay Milton?s directorial touches and the belief that everybody irrespective of his surroundings and upbringing has an identity.

The story is set in the famous Koyambedu market in Chennai. The movie talks about four adolescent boys (Pasanga team of Kishore, Sree Raam, Pandi and Murugesh) whose life revolves around the wholesale vegetable and fruit market, situated in Chennai, the largest of its kind in Asia.

They are orphans who grew up around the market with strange and weird names like Chittapa, Kuttimani, Puli and Setu. Their world revolves only around this market; they do not have any other identity. The boys are mentored by Aatchi (Sujatha), a wholesale vegetable vendor who is like a mother to them. The market is controlled by Naidu alias NKB who calls the shots with an iron fist. One day the boys fall foul of NKB, and things turn ugly.

Among the cast, newcomer Shalini as ATM is particularly brilliant, her sharp tongue and firecracker energy is a scream. All the boys are extraordinary. The supporting cast of new actors like the guy who plays the villain NKB and Sujatha as Aachi has given an unforgettable performance.

The music of SN Arunagiri is in sync with the film, no loud item numbers or friendship songs. The 7 minute action scene in the market where the boys turns the table on their enemies is brilliantly choreographed, and the climax scene creates an impact. Vijay Milton?s camera moves the story forward and his detailing and top angle shots are superb. Another hero is editor Antony whose fast cuts without any gimmicks has made the film racy and fast at 2 hours and 4 minutes.

Pandiraj?s screenplay is smashingly original. He ignites the perfect reaction among the audiences with each and every dialogue. Vijay Milton makes a fantastic comeback as a director as his story and detailing are perfect and is able to extract spellbinding performances from all artists in the film.

Goli Soda is real good cinema and is a must watch.

Verdict ? Very Good
