GOVINDA has for long been a one-man entertainment industry and with Hadh Kar Di Apane he continues his sojourn. He dances, he laughs, he cries, he sings, he entertains, he essays six different characters and he dons eleven get-ups all with indefatigable enthusiasm and the unique charm he possesses.
The only difference is that this time instead of Karishma or Raveena he has Rani Mukherjee keeping him company on all fronts including horrendous clothes.
The story is all fluff, just an excuse to get the lead pair together on a tour of Europe so that all the gorgeous locations can from the backdrop for the several songs they sing.
Nirmal Pandey and Ritu Shivpuri have not been granted a divorce by the court because of lack of evidence. They both individually pretend they are going to Europe and instead Nirmal sends Govinda and Ritu sends Rani to spy on the other. Govinda thinks somebody else is Ritu and so breaks off with her . Rani on her part mistakes Govinda for Nirmal.
Both are heartbroken and Rani agrees to marry someone else. In he climax all the doubts are resolved and the two unite.
Replete with one-liners, racist and sexist jokes, and toilet humour, the film lurches from gag to gag topping occasionally to fit in the songs. For some strange reason almost al the bickering between Govinda and Rani is in English. Maybe the makers figured it would make it more appealing to the youth.
At times the film appears to be almost like a David Dhawan flick, but then anyone who makes a film with Govinda attempts to recreate that quintessential Govinda-brand of magic.
On the tour in Europe Govinda and Rani are accompanied by several Indian families of which some are Satish Kaushik-Navnit Nishan, Avtar Gill-Himani Shivpuri and Paresh Rawal-Tanaaz Currim. Their combined talent is wasted in the sideshow, which mostly consists of each man eyeing the another`s wife. Gross.
Govinda, who has done n number of such roles goes through this role with practised ease. Never one to smile when he can guffaw, he keeps the audience in splits, though one wishes he would tone down his sense of clothes if not his acting.
The songs by Anand Raj Anand have more of noise than melody in the event it is left to Nirmal Jani, the cinematographer, to give the film some gloss.
The director Manoj Agarwal has chosen a script that fits Govinda to the ?t?.
Hadh Kar Di Aapne caters to the masses, the front benches and the man who doesn?t want to strain his brain. Since this is the group that makes up most of Govinda?s fan following, he is on safe ground here.
