I am in no hurry, says Janani Iyer
inally lady luck seem to be shining on Janani Iyer. Her Thegidi is declared a sleeper hit and the petite girl has all the reasons to smile. And the icing on the cake is that its Telugu remake Bhadram is also being well received. She has a string of new releases coming up in Malayalam starting mid-April. In an exclusive interview to Sify.com, Janani  who was levitated into stardom with  Bala’s Avan Ivan opens up

What did you think of Thegidi’s reception?
Even though I knew Thegidi would do well, the reception was even beyond my expectations both in terms of critical acclaim and box office success. I was very thrilled to receive appreciation from a lot of people around and industry about my performance as well as for my “Girl Next Door” looks.

You just returned from Hyderabad. Heard that Bhadram is also well-received. Comments?
I am so happy that Thegidi’s Telugu version Bhadram is being appreciated in Andhra. The movie was promoted well and when I visited theaters in Hyderabad, I was mobbed by fans and they shouted : “Madhu” (her character name) and many felt it was a straight Telugu movie. I’m looking forward to doing a straight Telugu film.

Now that, you have back to back hits in Tamil and Telugu, all your upcoming releases are in Malayalam. Tell us about 7th Day and your working experience with Prithviraj.
7th Day should be a festival release for Vishu (April 11th). I’m really looking forward to it. Prithviraj is a fabulous actor and he was very helpful during the shoot whether it was rehearsing or helping me with the language. It was an unforgettable experience working with him.

We heard your “Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal” also might release around the same time. How was it shooting for the movie in Andamans?
Yes. It might release for Vishu or one week before or after that. It was an unforgettable experience for me sailing in a ship from Chennai to Port Blair for the MKM shoot. Myself, Sunny Wayne, Asif Ali and several members of the cast and crew bonded well during the sea voyage. I found shooting in Andamans to be very hot.

You recently completed “Koothara” with Actor Mohan Lal. How was that experience.
It’s little too early to talk about this movie. Even though the movie has an ensemble cast, everyone has an equal and important role. I’ll tell more about this movie little later.

Actor Nivin Pauly is so hot in Malayalam now with two back to back hits “1983 and “Ohm Shanti Oshana”. You have signed “Edison Photos” with him. Tell us something about the movie.
In Edison Photos, I play a Tulu Brahmin girl. We will be shooting in some exotic locations. I’m looking forward to working with Nivin. Due to some date issues, the shoot got delayed and it should start end of May or beginning of June.

You are so busy in Malayalam. Have you picked up the language?
I insist everyone on my sets including my staff to speak to me in Malayalam. I understand the language well. I can manage now. Hope to get fluent very soon.

So what next in Tamil, post-Thegidi
Before Thegidi, I signed a two movie contract with Producer C.V. Kumar Sir’s Banner. We are yet to decide on the second movie. Also reading few scripts now. After Thegidi, I’m not in a hurry and want to do something which would satisfy me as well as the expectations of my fans.

2014 has started well for me and I’m looking forward to a great year ahead.
