Jai (Prabhas), a suave and handsome Indian studying in Milan (Italy), falls for the Indian beauty Manasa (Richa) after rescuing her from an eve teasing gang.
When he is about to propose his love, she tells him about her village near Rentachintala in Andhra Pradesh, which is into faction feuds. She decides to end their `friendship`, and returns to India. Jai lands in Hyderabad and joins a college. Jai befriends the bad guy (Subbaraju) in his college who happens to be Manasa`s brother. Jai becomes friendly with the brother who in turn takes Jai to his village for holidays.
Here Jai meets Manasa again. Manasa`s family is impressed by Jai`s attitude and philosophy of life. When the family plans to marry Manasa to Jai, he narrates his story. He was involved in a faction feud which cost him dearly - his father disowned him and he was distanced from his wife-to-be Vennela (Anushka).
Watch the movie to find out why Jai followed Manasa all the way from Milan?
As the title suggests, Mirchi is a masala entertainer that is packed in a new tetra pack with pulsating action sequences and clap-worthy dialogues. Prabhas has proved himself in romantic dramas (Darling and Mr.Perfect) as well as in action entertainers.
The debutant director Koratala Siva has tried to incorporate both these elements in Mirchi. Prabhas has two different shades of characterizations - an urban guy who charms women and the other one is a full-blooded youngster who takes on villains with swords. Prabhas is presented stylishly in the movie. His characterization, pre-interval action episode and the other action episodes and dialogues are the film`s asset in an otherwise predictable masala movie.
Story has nothing new as many scenes remind us of several films that came in the recent past.
Brahmanandam provides some comedy in the first half, while second half of the movie offers some good action episodes.
Prabhas has tried a different look and comes up with good performance too. His uber cool attitude and dressing style stands out. Anushka looks beautiful and livens up the moments in the second half. Their chemistry is perfect especially in the beautifully shot song - `Idedho Bagundhe`.
Richa is okay in her brief role. Sathyaraj as Prabhas` father lends dignity and Nadia looks beautiful too. In other roles, villain Sampath gets noticed for his performance, while Brahmanandam brings in some good laughs.
Devi Sri Prasad`s music is a big asset to the film. All the songs are good although the placement of the songs in the second half is bad. Cinematographer Madhie brings a rich look to the film with his cool camera work and the film has rich production values too.
Costume designer also did a good job. Writer turned director Koratala Siva has shown his skill when it comes to dialogues that make Prabhas fans happy. But as a director, he has miles to go.
Mirchi showcases Prabhas in a different avatar. Neat package of masala moments and Prabhas are the strengths. Mirchi is a decent entertainer and a time pass flick.
Oh Manapenne team has replicated the magic of the original in their own way!
