This is one of those ?horror? films? accidentally humorous where it should be frightening.

A spate of brutal murders in a hospital has the administration, media and police in a knot. There seems to be a common ground in all three crimes?the bodies are badly disfigured (loads of close-ups for the audience), they all took place at 3 am, and?all victims had their hearts ripped out of their bodies.

Newbie doctor (Sayali Bhagat, single vapid expression) has discovered one of the bodies. She?s prone to wearing super-mini dresses on her night shift and also to reciting random Bible verses for no apparent reason. At times, she?s creepier than the ghost itself.

We meet the Ghost in the first sequence itself. Trying too hard to be scary? white matted hair, walking on hands, gymnastic poses, disfigured face?this ghost doesn?t impress. The over-the-top horror was the stuff of Ramsay Films, and their ghosts were definitely scarier (heck, Veerana scared the heebie-jeebies out of viewers).

And then you?re given a comical representation of hell, with skeletons doing a jig and a snake slithering through a giant skull. You?ll be in splits when an elevator opens to show a man in fancy dress with a pigeon on one shoulder and eagle on the other.

But all ?hell? breaks loose when the biblical references go to ridiculous and offensive lengths. A character named Mary (they beep the surname), is shown being murdered (because of her faith) and the person giving orders says ? ?Crucify her like Christ?. So we witness the gruesome killing of this character perched upon a giant cross.

Enter dapper detective Vijay (Shiney Ahuja) who ascends to solve the case and romance the bored newbie doctor. Songs are sung, dances are done, corny dialogues are spoken (Boy asks: ?Why are you so pretty? Girl answers: Why are you so nice??).

Meanwhile, another murder happens. Now, blingy-attired detective swings into action?finding a trinket for a clue and roaming a street full of butchers.

Director Puja Jatinder Bedi is perhaps inspired by old-school Bollywood horror films that didn?t require anything except a grotesque monstrous thing on a killing spree. For this writer who gets spooked easily, watching Ghost was a breeze. So don?t venture into this one expecting a single scare. If you?re a fan of the more-amusing-than-scary, B-horror film genre, give it a shot!
