Movie Title

Irumbu Kuthirai

Yuvraj Bose

Star Cast

Atharvaa, Priya Anand, Johnny Tri Nguyen

Irumbu Kuthirai is a shining example of cinema that dares to be different, of going against the set norms, of defying the rigid set of laws of Kollywood formulaic films. It was touted to be a first of its kind Tamil movie which has a race backdrop. The promo promised lot of slick action and was received well among the youth.

Plot- Life changes drastically for Prithvi(Atharva) a meek pizza delivery boy after he meets Samyuktha(Priya Anand). Soon, they become good friends and our dull boy transforms into a ?man on mission?. Prithvi has a strange equation with bikes thanks to an accident. In the meantime, Samyuktha gets kidnapped and Prithvi has to find her!!

Promised as a Fast and Furious-type thriller,Irumbu Kuthirai inspite its rich production values and slick camerawork falls prey to a lot of compromises like half a dozen songs which pop up at regular intervals, the melodrama and romance in large dose.

Even though Atharvaa has taken the effort to give the required seriousness to the role, his character needed more pep and charisma. Priya Anand does a neat job although the writing lets her down. Lakshmi Rai?s Christina with all that tattoos and funky clothes falls flat and her dubbing is out of place. Devadharshini, proves once again that she is a natural actress while Jagan is ok. Johnny Tri Nguyen who comes as the antagonist looks menacing.

The movie has been shot in exotic locales of Italy and Pondicherry which is quite eye catching. The movie?s high point is definitely the stunt sequences which seem to have been shot with utmost finesse. The racing scenes and the songs are gorgeously filmed and the stunts are outrageous. The running time of two hours makes it slick.

On the whole, Irumbu Kuthirai is a movie that fails on the script level which Yuvraj Bose has tried to compensate with a glossy presentation.

Verdict: Debonair attempt gone awry!
