Oomph girl Mumaith Khan is back in Kollywood. This time however, she is playing a lead role in Paurnami Naagam directed by Yaar Kannan. We catch up with this svelte item girl for a quick chat and ask her about the way her career is going and her experiences in Kollywood.
Tell us about Paurnami Naagam. What’s special about this film for you?
It’s very special to me as I have a double role in it. I play a snake as well as a modern woman. So it’s very different. I am looking forward to it and if it clicks and people like me, then I will know what kind of roles to choose in future.
Is it just another snake revenge story?
Not at all. It has fantasy and modernity in it and lots of special effects and graphics. You will see two different facets of me in it! In fact I have done a lot of action sequences too!
How was it doing the song Yen Perai Meenakumari… in Kanthaswamy?
It was awesome! I danced on a moving bus. Shobi choreographed it beautifully. I just love the way it has turned out. It was a six day shoot in moving traffic and very tough but people who saw it say that it is one of the highlights of the film.
You have done songs with almost all superstars of south. Please comment.
Yes, I have done movies with Ajit, Vijay and Vikram in Tamil. They are all very talented and hard working people.
What is your role like in Mambattiyan?
It’s a remake and I play Jayamalini’s role from the original. Prashant is the hero. It’s a cameo role.
How do you view the competition with your sister also entering films like you?
My sister Zabyn is elder to me and there is no competition at all between us! We hope to do more songs together like in Vettaiyadu Vilayadu and Villu. Once, I was sick and could not attend a public function with her, so people made a big thing out of it and spread rumours about us competing with each other.
So you want to continue working in Kollywood though you have a big career in Telugu films as well?
Yes of course I am open to offers here. I am still in the learning stage as an actress. I am not a perfect actress but I am willing to learn from my mistakes. I have one film for release in Telugu and some more are in the discussion stage.
