Movie Title

Ittymaani: Made in China

Director

Jibi Joju

Star Cast

Mohanlal, Radhika Sarathkumar, Honey Rose

Director duo Jibi and Joju make their debut with Mohanlal, who looks young in this one and is trying to play a character much younger!

Ittymaani (Mohanlal) had his childhood in China, which is just an excuse for him to say some Chinese dialogues once in a while. He is living with his mother Theyyamma (KPAC Lalitha) and runs a not-so-happening catering service. He hails from Kunnamkulam and has a factory where duplicate things are manufactured.

Ittymaani is a bachelor, looking for the right girl and is the kind, who will demand commission even from the doctor doing his mother’s surgery. Finally when finds Jessy (Honey Rose), who is in London and the alliance is all set to happen, he asks for commission from the broker. This ruins the chance for that wedding.

The story takes an unprecedented turn with a rather curious happening towards the interval. We will not discuss about the merits of the twist in the tale here and play spoilsport.

With a rather shaky script, the director duo manages to take the story ahead with some comedy tracks and a big dose of preaching. Also, it would be great if the makers explain the relevance of the Chinese portions in the story.

The saving grace here is Mohanlal’s terrific performance. The actor gets into the skin of the character in an amazing way and make the narrative convincing. The superstar is in fine form and shines in his scenes with Sidhique, who is doing the role of a priest.

Radhika Sarathkumar and KPAC Lalitha have done their parts well. Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Bolghatty and Hareesh Kanaran are trying hard to tickle the funny bone, mostly with double meaning dialogues. Honey Rose and Madhuri Braganza have limited roles to play.

Ittymaani: Made in China is tailor made for those who enjoy the comedy skits and those melodramatic serials in the TV channels. In short, it is Mohanlal who is the saving grace of this movie.
