Director S L Puram Jayasurya’s Jack & Daniel is about a cat and mouse game involving a robber and a cop.

Daniel Alexander (Arjun Sarja) is an encounter specialist who has been brought to Kochi by the Kerala government on a special assignment, to nab a smart thief who has been robbing ‘black money’. The media often gets notified about the details by the thief himself.

With the help of some cops from Kerala Police, who are mostly incapable and silly, Daniel manages to find some crucial info about the thief. The police are aware that it is a businessman named Jack (Dileep), who is behind the robberies, but they don’t have the proof to arrest him.

They conduct an income tax raid at Jack’s house but that ends up as a comic exercise. Jack goes to Goa for another adventure and at the airport he meets Susmitha (Anju Kurian), a photographer.

As Jack and Susmitha, whom he calls ‘Sudoku’ falls in love, the cops hatch more plans to trap the robber. But it is never easy. Jack is trained in martial arts and is also super brilliant. The rest of the story is the continuation of Jack’s escapades and some dramatic twists.

This one is a commercial entertainer which is not to be taken too seriously. Even then better writing and smarter packaging could have made things better.

Dileep has been presented in an avatar that is pretty different from his usual ones and the actor gets into the shoes of the character really well. He performs his role in a dedicated way and actually it is his performance that works for the movie big time.

Arjun Sarja comes up with an impressive show but he perhaps deserved some more action. Anju Kurian looks good as the heroine.

Jack & Daniel may not be perfect with its own share of highs and lows but qualifies as a fairly engaging watch.
