Jyotika: OTT is a wonderful platform for small-budget films!

Interacting with the media through video conferencing, actress Jyotika said: "We are releasing Ponmagal Vandhal on OTT only because of the COVID 19 pandemic. After things are back to normal, many big-budget films will start hitting the screens and our film will not get the required slot immediately. It would take another two years to establish a free-flowing release platform. I would say that OTT is a wonderful platform for small budget films".

"I'm not saying that all my future films would release on OTT, this is just an interim relief for actors and producers like us", she added. "Generally, the number of audiences for a female-centric film is lesser than films starring mass heroes so OTT platforms helping us to reach wider audience", explained the actress.

Jyotika also said that she has come out of the commercial films with typical songs, comedies, and action. "I only want to play powerful roles because in real life women are very strong and majestic. Besides advising my kids, I also want them to learn something from my films", said the actress.

Talking about Ponmagal Vandhal, Jyotika said: "The film talks about an important social issue but as it is a thriller, I can't reveal more details about the film now. Acting with Parthiepan sir, Baghyaraj sir, Prathap Pothen sir, and Thiagarajan sir was a great learning experience. Happened to know how they prepare themselves for their roles".

"Directors almost forgetting the fact that I'm a North Indian. In Ponmagal Vandhal, I had three to four lengthy dialogue-oriented courtroom scenes in Tamil. I asked my director to give the dialogue paper three months back and I thoroughly learned my lines. Among all my films, Ponmagal Vandhal took more time for pre-production because the story is close to my heart and I've given my maximum effort", she said.

Sharing her experience in playing as the lawyer for the first time, Jyotika said: "I felt powerful wearing the costume for the first time. I'm not playing a lawyer who practices in the High Court or Supreme Court in the film. The whole story set in a small court of Ooty. As I've to impress the audience through lengthy dialogues and body language, spoke at length with real-life lawyers including 2D Rajsekara Pandian who is a lawyer by profession", signed off the actress whose character name in the film is Venbaa.
