Finally it is official!  Cloud Nine and Sun Pictures will distribute and market Ajith’s 50th Golden Jubilee film Mankatha.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri has confirmed through his social networking site- “Sun Pictures have bought the theatrical and satellite rights of Mankatha. They are going to promote it really big!”

The deal came through only because of the efforts of Udhayanidhi Stalin, who brought together Sun Pictures and Cloud Nine.  It was his idea that the K-families film producing arms should come together in these difficult days, after losing power at the state level.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri has thanked Udhayanidi and said- “A special thanks to Red Giant Movies and  Anna Udhayanidhi Stalin”.

The idea is to stand united and take on any opposition and release the film, “come hell or high water.”    The goodwill enjoyed by Dorai’s Cloud Nine and Udhay’s Red Giants in the industry along  with the marketing and promotional capacity of Kalanidhi Maran and his Sun Network, they feel Mankatha is a sure fire hit.

After initially tying up a deal with KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green, Dorai reworked his strategy and signed up with Sun Pictures. The film will be presented as -  “Cloud Nine Movies & Sun Pictures proudly presents Mankatha”.

Now it has to be seen whether the film will release on the promised date August 31. Sun Pictures believe in heavy promotions, which they normally start 25 days before the release date on their network. And it will take time to book theatres and release the film under “various speed breakers ahead”.

But Dhayanidhi Alagiri has confirmed that Sun TV has assured him that the film will release on August 31.
