Movie Title

Kadha Samvidhanam Kunchacko

Haridas Kesavan

Star Cast

Sreenivasan, Meena

Director Haridas Kesavan's Kadha Samvidhanam Kunchacko begins on a promising note, with the protagonist being shown as a wealthy but ruthless chronic bachelor.

Perhaps a different experiment in the offing, we would believe, but soon it all proves wrong. The mayhem that begins after the first half an hour makes the whole experience of watching this film, quite a dreadful one for the viewer!

The story revolves around the rather bizarre world of Kunchacko (Sreenivasan), who lives in a huge bungalow, all alone. He is grim in nature, especially when it comes to money and never really realizes the relevance of emotions in life.

His greedy siblings lead cozy lives thanks to his money, but deep inside, Kunchacko is craving for true love. Beneath his brash exterior is a rather genuine human being which not many understand. The fifty plus man decides to get married one fine morning and the girl he finds for himself is Ann Mary (Meena), who is almost half his age old.

Surprisingly, she is willing to marry him as well. But on the night of his marriage itself, Kunchacko is made to feel guilty about his impudent deeds and his life is never the same again.

It's amazing why Sreenivasan, one of the finest scenarists and actors in Malayalam, accepted this film with such an unimaginative storyline. For anyone who has seen at least half a dozen films during the last two decades or so, the story is contrived and boring to the hilt.

Sreenivasan repeats his trademark mannerisms and style, with evident disinterest in the proceedings. Meena has almost the same role that she had in Udayananu Tharam, as a hapless wife who is facing turbulent times in her life, soon after the marriage. The rest of the cast has nothing much to do other than to enact the routine melodrama and buffoonery.

Haridas Kesavan, who has earlier directed genuine films like Georgekutty c/o Georgekutty and Kinnaripuzhayoram, certainly disappoints with Kadha Samvidhanam Kunchacko. The film is banal, insipid and too predictable.
