The latest hot buzz in Kollywood is that Kamal Haasan- Shankar’s Indian 2 has been shelved.
Media reports say that Lyca Productions has backed out of the project due to huge cost of production, but Shankar is confident that the shoot will resume after Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. Shankar is said to be holding talks with the production house again and if it fails, he is planning to approach another big corporate production house to bankroll the film.
Though ‘2.0’ is Tamil cinema’s highest grosser, the film was not a profitable venture for Lyca Productions due to the exorbitant budget. The production house who are doing half a dozen films has come forward to fund Indian 2 thinking that the film will be a safe venture. But looking at the progress, it is also said to be another magnum opus so they are doubtful about recovering the investment with Kamal Haasan whose films haven’t generated big numbers in recent times.
Other than Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, and a few other lesser known actors, Shankar hasn’t even confirmed the list of actors in Indian 2.
