In his recent interview with Vikatan, filmmaker Jeethu Joseph has revealed that his upcoming Tamil film 'Thambi' starring Karthi and Jyotika is based on a documentary. Interestingly, Rensil D’Silva has penned a script based on the documentary so Jeethu Joseph has written his screenplay based on the writer's work.

Manikandan who penned the dialogues in 'Vikram Vedha' has written the Tamil lines for the film. Jeethu Joseph says that just like 'Drishyam'/'Papanasam', Thambi is also a family drama-thriller set in the Mettupalayam backdrop.

The director has revealed that the film has three songs composed by Govind Vasantha of '96' fame and they have wrapped the entire shoot in 67 days.

Thambi is scheduled to release on December 20. Apart from Jyotika and Karthi, the film also has Sathyaraj, Nikhila Vimal and Sowcar Janaki in pivotal characters.
