The film?s publicity stills had evoked certain amount of curiosity, but Kattupuli ends up as a half baked, painfully predictable film which offers nothing original in its writing or treatment.
To be entirely honest, one needs to ask director Tinnu Verma that if his film doesn't have one single merit, how he would expect it to work. And what the film was trying to say in the first place?
It is sad to see an actor of Arjun?s calibre to accept this film which is voyeuristic and shamelessly borders on soft-porn. It has a silly excuse for a plot, some of the poorest actors you could possibly assemble, and just about average music. No wonder it's such a punishment to endure.
The story - A bunch of college students meet a doctor (Arjun), his wife and their 5-year-old daughter who are all on a picnic in a forest. There is this bunch of Cannibals with blood smeared all over them sporting blue lenses and kohl in their eyes who are on a killing spree. They are hand-in-glove with a gang of doctors who is into organ trafficking and the rest of the film is how Arjun brings them to light.
The film's biggest disappointment is Arjun who looks like he was forced to be in this film. There is none of his usually manic energy on display here. Agreed it is a dubbed film but the lip sync is pathetic and most of the performances are so embarrassing.
Verdict- Avoid
