Star Cast

Asif Ali, Veena Nandakumar

Director Nisam Basheer’s Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha is about a guy named Sleevachan whose life changes totally after his marriage.

Sleevachan (Asif Ali) is a 35 year hardworking planter who lives with his old mother in a high range village. His sisters are already married and they want him to tie the knot. But such thoughts have never come to Sleevachan, who is happy with his farming and some businesses. As he says at some point, he has not interacted with any other girl other than his mother and sisters.

After he sees his mother lying on the floor as she fainted, Sleevachan decides to get married. He meets a beautiful young girl named Rincy (Veena Nandakumar), who is impressed by Sleevachan’s innocent nature.

But things doesn’t happen the way she had expected from the first day of marriage. Sleevachan make excuses to stay away from her and after a while, she confronts him asking for the reason for his behavior. As per the advice of some of his friends, Sleevachan does something that takes the story in a different direction from then on.

It is time that Malayalam cinema started talking about life after marriage in a serious way like movies like Dum Laga Ke Heisha or Shubh Mangal Saavdhan did in Hindi and this one is somewhat on those lines. With good visuals and music, the director has packaged this movie as an engaging entertainer with some good moments.

Asif Ali scores with his matured performance as Sleevachan. Veena Nandakumar is impressive. The supporting cast, especially Jaffer Idukki, Basil Joseph and Rony David, have done their parts competently.

Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha may not be perfect but qualifies as a genuine feel good entertainer. Go for this one!
