Director Jijo Antony?s Konthayum Poonoolum narrates quite a few stories in a multi linear format, with the basic connection that links them all being horror.

Kunchacko Boban and Bhama play a couple expecting their first kid, Manoj K Jayan is a ruthless money lender who believes a ghost is following him, Kalabhavan Mani is an atheist cop, Joy Mathew is a still photographer and Sarayu is a student playing a prank with her roommate.

The stories are intertwined in a random way and instead of making the journey thrilling, the film actually tests your patience with unnecessary detailing. The narration goes on and on without any definite direction, though there are some nice moments here and there.

Still, the feeling one gets is that there is an honest effort to make a good film but it is just that the makers failed to present it in a gripping way. As it mostly happens in films of this pattern, some of the stories are too weak and as a result, the film loses it steam, somewhere in between.

With nice visuals, the director manages to come up with some interesting sequences. But that is not enough to make the viewers glued on to the screen for its total duration of just more than two hours. Moreover, resorting to the age old gimmicks like darkness, loud noises, scary toys and so on for horror, doesn?t help things in anyway either.

The actors have nothing much to display on screen other than what they have usually done, in most films.

Konthayum Poonoolum tries to package too many things, but ends up as an ineffective potpourri of half-baked stories. Now, decide on your own!
