Rajnikanth’s Chandramukhi is on the verge of turning into a legend in Tamil cinema. The film which released on April 14, 2005 celebrates its 700 days today (March 16) at Shanti theatre in Chennai.

Another 85 days, and it will create a new world record, for the longest running Tamil film in a single theatre! The current holder of this record is Haridas (1944) which had Thyagaraja Bhagavathar as the hero. It ran at the Broadway, in the then Madras for 784 days.

Hats off to the superstar Rajnikanth, director P.Vasu and the producers Ram Kumar and Prabhu of Sivaji Productions, for coming out with such a big mega blockbuster. Ram Kumar confirmed that Chandramukhi, is all set to beat the 62 year record of Haridas.
