While the film has been receiving so much appreciation from all quarters, the reviewer finds fault with the film since it is “glorifying Christianity”.
The review begins asking what is the relevance of a place called Angamaly, when it is not like New York, Medellin in Colombia or not even a Mumbai. It has a weak storyline, says the reviewer, and it is a celebration of crime.
The favourites for the trollers is the question, “why is not even a single temple was shown in a film, where church, mass, betrothal, wedding, easter, carol and all such Christian symbols are being shown”.
The reviewer also mocks scenarist Chemban Vinod Jose who makes a cameo appearance in the film. Just like the dialogue in the film, Chemban will have to search for some menial job after this, he warns.
After the review became the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons, Angamaly Diaries director Lijo Jose Pellissery posted a comment on his Facebook page. “A beautiful review. Even I haven’t viewed the film with all the minute aspects mentioned in the review. Thanks to the reviewer. Please convey my regards to all at your home".
