Seven random people from various corners of the country come together to save a tribal group who lives cut off from the rest of the world.
Well, director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon presents a fantastic idea in his latest offering, Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi. But sadly, beneath this ambitious settings and delicious frames, the film turns out to be a silly one that lacks genuine content.
It all begins when a retired civil servant CKAK Menon (Nedumudi Venu), a gun tester Madhumita R Krishnan (Reenu Mathews), an ailing body builder Shanmughan Ilangovan (Bharath), a chemical engineer Ananthakrishnan Iyer (Jacob Gregory), a zoology professor Neelakantan (Chemban Vinod Jose) and a street magician Bheeran (Sunny Wayne) are guided by Malavedan (Sudheer Karamana) into the dense forests.
The team meets Philipose John Varkey (Kunchacko Boban), a nature enthusiast, inside the jungle. He tells them about the civilization that existed deep inside the forests, which was once owned by a British company.
A considerable time is spent unveiling the characters and showing their hardships as they reach the area called ‘7000 Kandi’. But the funny thing is that later the miscreants who want to occupy the land reach there easily in bikes and wooden rafts, without a wrinkle in their shirts!
With some good intentions, which can best be narrated as a short film, Anil Radhakrishnan Menon bores you to death with an idea that is too simple to be taken seriously.
Though the team members are carrying only their backpacks, they dress up in designer garments, with matching shades and bandanas, once they reach their destination. Even if you are ready to accept it, there is more surprise. The tribal population is more stylish and colourful too.
The actors seem too laid back, as if they are actually on a vacation. Kunchacko Boban has sleepwalked through his role. Reenu Mathews doesn’t seem to have any acting bones, while the usually terrific Chemban Vinod and Sudheer Karamana look not-so-interested in the whole affair.
Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi may look fine on paper but is unintentionally funny. With inane thoughts masqueraded as noble philosophy, this one falls flat way too easily.
Verdict: Average
