In a year when he is tasting big box office success and amazing critical acclaim, superstar Mammootty has said in an interview with IANS that “Stardom is not a position. You are not acquiring it. It is imposed on you that you are a star. You should not take it to your mind.”
With Peranbu in Tamil and Yatra in Telugu, besides the recently released Unda in Malayalam, Mammootty is perhaps having one of the most rewarding periods in his career, now. His masala entertainer, Madhura Raja which released this year during Vishu, has reportedly hit the 100 crore mark.
His forthcoming film Mamangam is perhaps Malayalam’s costliest film ever made. He is playing a Stanford professor in Pathinettam Padi, releasing early next month. Currently, the superstar is facing the camera for Ramesh Pisharody’s Gana Gandharvan.
