Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam has completed a couple of schedules of his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan in Thailand.
But the COVID 19 pandemic has spoiled the film's progress and the team hasn't shot any scene in the last seven months. Now, the latest hot buzz in the industry is that Ratnam is planning to resume the shoot of the film in Sri Lanka.
Jointly produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Jayam Ravi plays the titular role in the film which also has Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, and Nizhalgal Ravi in pivotal characters.
AR Rahman is composing the music for the film which is likely to be released in two parts. Mani Ratnam's original plan is to release the first part in early 2021 and the second part by the end of next year but the pandemic has ruined the release schedule.
