`Manmathan` Silambarasan

Among the new breed of star sons, Silambarasan, son of T.Rajendar has proved his mettle and made inroads into the mass hero category with the latest Manmathan turning out to be a huge hit.(View gallery: Simbu in Manmathan)

Simbu started his career in films as a child artist (19 films) and his debut film as a hero was Kathal Azhuvathillai did not have the cash registers ringing but his second film Dum was a hit. Simbu, as he is popularly known has his detractors saying that he is arrogant, but he is a soft-spoken, well mannered guy willing to talk about his career moves.(Also Read: Manmathan, a taut thriller)

For Simbu his biggest hero is none other than his father T.Rajendar and says: "My father has been the biggest guidance force and without his help and advice I would never have made it." Simbu’s films include Kovil, Alai and now Manmathan for which Simbu tried his hand with story, screenplay and dialogues. He also sang a song for the film under Yuvan Shankar’s music direction.

"There is a long way for me to go and I dream of doing good characters in future" says Simbu who is right now on top of the world after being vindicated with Manmathan, which is turning out to be a big hit. The young actor has shed his earlier arrogant image on-screen and off-screen as he now comes across as a humble guy who has matured overnight with a genial smile and a generous dose of humour!

Now he is working on his next film for which he has gone for an all-new look sporting a beard and long hair. Gopika is his heroine and it will be a mass film with large dose of action from the young actor. His choice to play an unusual role at a young age has clicked and now his Dorai directed Totti Jaya has become hot property in the trade. And there also buyers for a project in which he is acting with S.J.Surya.
