In 2018, Chinmayi was instrumental in creating awareness about the #MeToo movement in Tamil Nadu. The singer openly accused Vairamuthu of repeatedly harassing her. Later, the singer posted screenshots of the complaint she received from several singers and budding talents who also accused Vairamuthu.
Now, nearly after two years, Chinmayi posted a screenshot of a girl who refused to reveal her identity and accused Vairamuthu. The girl said that she first met Vairamuthu at a book release function and while signing her book, he also gave his phone number.
The girl used to work as a video jockey so Vairamuthu is said to have asked for her number and repeatedly called her to come to a place near Mount Road. The video jockey had to tell this to her boss and they informed the same to Vairamuthu's wife to end the issue.
"Almost 2 years since the second wave of the #MeToo movement. #17. It took her 2 years to open up to me because her family doesn’t support. Have known her for years. And of course, does it even matter to the peeps of this society?", wrote Chinmayi on Twitter and shared the screenshot.
