The big announcement has finally come, as superstar Mohanlal celebrates his birthday on May 21.
Drishyam, the first Malayalam film to cross the 50 crore mark, will have a sequel. Jeethu Joseph, who directed Drishyam, is ready with Drishyam 2 with Mohanlal as the hero, announced producer Antony Perumbavoor.
After Jeethu said in an interview about starting another project that will be shot in Kerala, before the next schedule of RAM begins in London, there were so many stories. The director had to clarify later that RAM has not been abandoned but is postponed for the time being due to COVID 19 restrictions.
The team is planning to start Drishyam 2 as soon the permission comes from the Kerala govt for movie shooting.
Drishyam, which came out in 2013, has been remade in several Indian languages and in Sinhalese and Chinese. Jeethu himself directed the Tamil version, Papanasam, with Kamal Haasan in the lead. But detractors of Jeethu say that it when you don't have anything new to offer that a director thinks about making a sequel to his hit film!
