“As the world stands at a crucial juncture, I am also celebrating a milestone. Today, on May 21, I am turning 60,” Mohanlal begins his latest blog on his birthday.
According to him, what took him until now were mere coincidences. The superstar says that the efforts and talents of many, helped him in reaching so far.
Mohanlal says he comes from a background with no real artistic talents. He never planned to be an actor. He acted in Thiranottam as it was made by his friends. The application for acting in Manjil Virinja Pookkal was sent by his friends.
There was no looking back ever since after making an impression as a villain in Manjil Virinja Pookkal.
“I have been asked to define acting,” he says. “I have never read any books on acting. I don’t even know how I become a character. To me, Japanese actor Yoshi Oida’s statement that acting is vanishing may be the closest to my belief,” says the genius actor.
He says that it is difficult to explain how he could do the play Karnabharam in Sanskrit, when he doesn’t know a word of Sanskrit, or how he could perform Kathakali when he has never learnt the artform.
Mohanlal explains why he has done certain movies, which made others wonder what attracted him to those projects. According to him, he just vanishes into the characters given to him by the writers and directors.
“I have never claimed any success as my own. I have taken the responsibilities for my failures though,” he adds.
The “complete actor” says he is going ahead in a journey that makes him think, “Is this real? Or just an imagination.”
And today he tweeted: "Thanks everyone for all the love, prayers, and wishes. I am humbled and elated to have you all in my life"
