Talking to Sify.com, maverick filmmaker Mysskin said that his Friday release Psycho will be the most violent film in India.
"Tapas Nayak, the sound designer of the film told me that it's one of the most violent films he ever watched in the country. In the film, I tried to analyze why someone becomes a psycho? As a filmmaker, my job is to flip the rock and see what lies underneath the hard stone. Someone who abuses his wife and children must have undergone an unacceptable mental disturbance. I wanted to showcase my story from that point of view", said Mysskin.
"As I said in other interviews, the film is based on the popular Buddha tale Angulimala who is probably the first historically registered psycho known to humankind. We all know Buddha transformed him, there are many theories to the transformation. Psycho is my take on this tale along with the flavors of our epics like Ramayana and Mahabharat", added the actor.
"I want my actors to only act for 36 marks. If they try to act for 100 or even 80, I would ask them to reduce it to the pass mark level. The music, cinematography and sound design can amplify the performance. If they act for 80 marks, the other factors will amplify their performance and it becomes overacting", he laughs.
"Udhayanidhi is a dedicated actor, he listened to what I told him to do in the film and followed it without much hesitation. Nithya is an acting monster and she has excellent script sense. I also find Aditi Rao Hydari as a sensible performer", says Mysskin who introduced a newcomer Raj as the psycho in the film.
Talking about working with Ilaiyaraaja, Mysskin said: "Well, no one would have demanded music from Raja sir like me. Sometimes, he even scolded me badly yet I would go and ask him for better songs. Most of the filmmakers can't even talk to him because of the aura around him but I would close my eyes while interacting with him".
Mysskin says he never revisits his films. "Why I should revisit my own films? It's in the past and I can't do anything about it. Even while making 'Thupparivaalan 2', I didn't watch the first part for taking reference. Another blessing in disguise is I haven't seen the films of Vishal, Udhay, Aditi, and Nithya Menen so I don't have any preconceived image about them", signs off Mysskin.
Psycho is all set to release on January 24.
