How was the Om Shanti Om experience?
It was fantastic. After several songs, we still wanted to compose more. We had a blast working with Farah and Shah Rukh Khan and the response from listeners has been great.

What was the brief given to you when you were approached to compose the music for Om Shanti Om?
Farah was extremely clear about what she wanted. The music had to be retro and modern. She was very clear on what kind of music she wanted. So it was easy for us.

Which is your favourite track from Om Shanti Om?
All the tracks… we really couldn't pick a favourite. The album consists of songs, all strong in their own right. The flavours of the songs are upbeat, vibrant and fun-filled.

Which project have you enjoyed the most till now?
Jhankaar beats was a tribute to Pancham Da. It was the most memorable project and also not to forget Bluffmaster with Abhishek Bachchan.

How do you work together? Do you think you will always be composing as a unit? How do you ensure that clashes don't occur while working?
Shekhar: We are friends, yaar. Sometimes he does not like my composition and vice versa but we do have a very good understanding.
Vishal: Shekhar is my fundamental music school.

How has the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa experience been?
The contestants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa are flying high. They are really hard working. It's a great feeling to be a part of it.

Who is your favourite contestant on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa?
The Top 3 are all good and talented.

What are your views on Himesh Reshammiya?
Himesh is a good composer with a unique voice. We really admire his compositions. It would be very silly to demean what Himesh is today. He is hugely successful in Bollywood.

Among the songs that you have composed, which is your personal favourite and why?
It was always Jhankaar Beats, Woh Pehli Baar and Allah ke Bande.

Your favourite male and female playback singers?
Actually, all of them are our good friends so we can't say anything.

Who do you think is the most versatile singer in the industry today?
Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. They can sing anything.

Which music director are you most inspired by?
R D Burman and A R Rahman. We can learn a lot from their music. They always do something new.

If you wouldn't have been music directors, what would you have chosen to become in life?
This was God's call for us, actually.

What kind of music do you generally listen to when you unwind?
We listen to all kinds of songs. From jazz, hip-hop and singers like John Legend, James Blunt, Led Zepplin, Metallica.

What are your upcoming projects?
We are working on Tashan and couple of other movies.
