Oru Kutanadan Blog review: A big bore
Mammootty's 'Oru Kuttanadan Blog' has nothing new to offer and though the role should have been a cakewalk for the actor, he looks uncomfortable often.

Oru Kutanadan Blog review: A big bore
Mammootty, Poorna, Sanju Sivaram, Jacon Gregory, Nedumudi Venu, Raai Laxmi, Sreenath
Mammootty's Oru Kuttanadan Blog offers nothing new in terms of storytelling and presentation. When writer Sethu turns director it was bound to happen, as he has no experience in making it an engrossing entertainer. The film tries to kindle nostalgia but in the process it becomes a drag.
The blog, in the title is irrelevant as it has no impact on the narration. Sunny Wayne and Ananya are sitting somewhere in New York and writing a blog about a character called Hari ettan (Mammootty) who was the life and soul of Krishnapuram, a sleepy village in Kuttanad in the backwaters of Kerala. They eulogise the character and tries to built nostalgia around him to the readers of the blog, who yearn to go back and get a feel of Krishnapuram. Sethu must have thought it was a novel method to tell the story via a blog but it ends up making the film a big bore.
Seema Raja review: Sivakarthikeyan steals the show | Love Sonia review: A familiar tale brutally told | The Predator review: Muddled sci-fi action extravaganza | U-Turn Review: A faithful remake with minor changes | Manmarziyaan review: Performances elevate the film | Shailaja Reddy Alludu Review: An average entertainer with some fun moments
And via the blog we come to know the story of Hari ettan, who has made all his money in Dubai and is now leading a peaceful life in his village and helping them by giving loans at reasonable interest. The pre-interval period has Mammootty going on a image building exercise, seen in his earlier films. A section calls him a ladies’ man and others praise him for his generosity. The love track of Anu Sithara's character and the eventual decision made on her relationship status, that too after an illogical bike chasing scene, sadly looks like a sore thumb. On top of it the local police inspector (Poorna) and Hari's childhood sweetheart (Raai Laxmi) find him interesting! Tezni Khan another character loudly says – “Despite all his weakness, he is awesome !”
The screenplay is quite predictable and the way Mammootty handles all his problems with a smile is too cinematic. He has been doing similar template characters for a long period of time. Performance wise, Oru Kuttanadan Blog is a cakewalk for Mammootty who didn't struggle much for his role and effortlessly pull it off but the actor looks bit uncomfortable in many scenes because of his age! There is no need for a bike stunt in the second half and it is nothing but an unnecessary heroism. Among all the heroines, Poorna as the easy going cop attracts us with her boyish look and screen presence. All other actors including Sanju Sivaram, Jacon Gregory, Nedumudi Venu and Raai Laxmi are just adequate.
The film’s cinematographer perfectly captured the scenic locales of Kuttanad, the beauty of the water bodies and the local people's culture. Sreenath's songs are enjoyable as it has a local flavour and he has done a neat job in the background score department too.
To conclude, Oru Kuttanadan Blog is a big bore, as it has been stretched to 137 minutes.

Sethus filmography as a writer wasn't much impressive and his directorial debut isn't different.#OruKuttanadanBlog is an outright disappointment where even a star like @mammukka is wasted.

#OruKuttanadanBlog Review• Strictly an average movie , poor story and direction.
• All the songs and sound design and the decent acting by all except rai laxmi are the positives.
• Nothing special in the movie , may be okish for family audienceRating - 2.5/5
Looks like @mammukka is bored of making movies, hence now doing movies only to provide opportunities for new comers and his close ones. #OruKuttanadanBlog is another such outing, as a movie its dull and boring.
