Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya review:

Sajan K Mathew

Star Cast

Unni Mukundan, Prayaga Martin, Sanusha

If you have taken a ticket for director Sajan K Mathew’s spooky thriller Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya be ready to believe whatever is shown on screen.

Conveniently, the story happens in some village called Mallapuram, where Prakashan (Unni Mukundan) is a wrestler and runs a modest electrical equipment repair shop for a living. He is smitten by the charming Aswathy (Sanusha), who lives in the neighbourhood.

But things take an abrupt turn when he meets a beautiful girl named Parvathy (Prayaga Martin). She had lost her way and he takes her home. His mother and everyone in the village thinks they had got married and she starts living in his house.

If you think the surprises have ended, wait… it has only begun. He hates her initially but some songs later, when he starts loving her, she reveals that she is actually a ghost!

When most of the Malayali directors are busy searching Western and Korean movies for inspirations, Sajan K Mathew should get a pat on his back for rehashing some of the old Malayalam movies like Vinayan’s Vellinakshatram or some of those mystery novels that were pretty popular several years back in Kerala, if that can be counted as an achievement.

Unni Mukundan looks good but proves once again that he has only muscles and no acting bones in his well toned body. Prayaga Martin is nice and Sanusha has nothing much to do other than to smile at regular intervals.

As it is mandatory in the masala films here, the hero’s silly friends who are only there to create comedy with their stupidity, are in attendance.

If you are wondering the relevance of the title Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya, which is the opening lines from Manichithrathazhu, spend such time while watching this one. Or you will be left wondering how to kill time, while this horrible saga goes on and on, without an end.

Oru Murai Vanthu ParthayaVerdict: Avoidable
