Luthfudeen, Aishwarya, RJ Balaji, Sathish

Director Dhanapal’s Parandhu Sella Vaa is yet another template triangular love story with exceptions including the Singapore backdrop and few twists and turns towards the climax.

Sampath (Luthfudeen) becomes a laughing stock among his friends, Mani (Sathish) and others because of the fact that he is unable to find a good looking girlfriend.

To maintain his image, Sampath creates a imaginary girl (Narelle Kheng) and creates her profile on Facebook, thanks to Mark’s (RJ Balaji) idea and as per their plan, everyone starts believing that our hero has a girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Sampath’s parents find him a beautiful Tamil girl Madhavi (Aishwarya Rajesh) in Singapore and they slowly develop a liking for each other. But the twist in the tale is that the imaginary girl comes into Sampath’s life and then what happens forms the crux of the story….

Parandhu Sella Vaa appears to be the upgraded version of the 1999 Tamil film Hello starring Prashanth, where the hero tries to save his image by pointing out a complete stranger as his girlfriend. Just like any other recent films, RJ Balaji attracts us with his funny one liners while Sathish and Karunakaran are adequate.

Luthfudeen is definitely talented but has a long way to go to carry a film single handedly. For Aishwarya Rajesh, the role offered is a cakewalk and the newcomer Narelle Kheng too has done a decent job. But the film has too many unnecessary characters and do not contribute much to the screenplay proceedings. The first half moves at a snail pace and only RJ Balaji’s portions provide relief while Sathish’s comic sequences partially entertains us in the second half.

Technically Santhosh’s cinematography has beautifully captured unexplored Singapore locations and couple of songs from Joshua Sridhar are hummable.

The main problem with Parandhu Sella Vaa is the age old storyline and slow paced screenplay with too many characters. Yes, comedy has worked out to an extent but the lack of in-depth characters and lengthy proceedings only make this as a middling watch.
