In his recent interview to Vikatan, noted cinematographer PC Sreeram heaped praise on new generation Tamil filmmakers.

“Recently I saw Peranbu which is an astonishing work by Ram, he has taken the film to a different level. I couldn’t imagine any other actor in Mammootty’s role. Filmmakers like Mari Selvaraj (Pariyerum Perumal) and Lenin Bharati (Merkku Thodarchi Malai) are inspiring me to do more films”, said Sreeram.

He also added: “These young filmmakers coming up with great contents but they are struggling to market it. I’m not seeing such a difficult situation in Telugu and Malayalam. I think we have clubbed politics and cinema here which is the major reason for this unfavorable situation”.

While answering a question on Tamil stars foraying into politics, Sreeram said: "Anyone can come to politics. But I don’t think people will make someone CM just because they are film stars, that myth has been broken long back. Today, people started seeing cinema as a separate entity”.
