Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kadutha Aradhakan review - Disappoints big time

Jijo Antony

Star Cast

Sunny Wayne, Prayaga Martin

Director Jijo Antony’s Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kadutha Aradhakan is about a gang of friends from Thiruvananthapuram, who are all hardcore fans of Tamil star,Thalapathy Vijay.

So Ganeshan (Sarath, who played Appani Ravi in Angamaly Diaries), Hanuman Biju (Jacob Gregory), retired ISRO scientist Seetharam Iyer (Nedumudi Venu), Noushad (Saiju Kurup) and of course the hero, Pokkiri Simon (Sunny Wayne) does all what normal fans of heroes do. They chant their idol’s name all the time, celebrate during new releases and paste pictures of Vijay, on the walls of their home. When they are not talking about the superstar, all they do is fool around and present us some song 'n' dance routines.

Then there are a few more tracks. A few cops, a ruthless moneybags and his always angry younger brother included. And if all that is not enough, there is a romantic track as well, where the heroine is pretty much waiting to fall for the hero.

There is no problem with brainless entertainers that are just meant to keep you engaged. But this one tests your patience as the story meanders without any direction or focus. If you pack some comedy, sentiments, romance, action and so on, that is good enough to entertain the viewers? At least the makers of this film seems to have such a notion.

Sunny Wayne plays his role in a halfhearted way. Parayaga Martin and some of the other actors hams it up. Sarath repeats his Appani Ravi act and Saiju Kurup has a limited role to play.

Though Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kadutha Aradhakan begins as a tribute to Thalapathy Vijay, the hero should feel relieved that these fans of his, forgets him pretty soon. But no such luck for the hapless viewers.

Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kadutha Aradhakan review- Verdict: Torture
