Prathi Poovankozhi review: Topical and hits you hard!

Director

Rosshan Andrrews

Star Cast

Manju Warrier, Rosshan Andrrews

Director Rosshan Andrrews’ Prathi Poovankozhi narrates the story of a sales girl who faces humiliation while travelling in a bus.

Madhuri (Manju Warrier) is a sales girl in a textile shop. She is living with her mother and though they have some ancestral land, the threat of huge debts constantly worries her. Madhuri goes for work in a bus, along with her friend Rosamma (Anusree), who works in the same shop.

It is while travelling in the bus that Madhuri faces some dirty experiences from a fellow traveler named Antappan (Rosshan Andrrews). One day he leans on to her making her evidently uncomfortable and irritated.

Another day, as the bus reached the destination, Madhuri is subjected to a sexual attack, which makes her terribly shocked and seriously angry. She follows Antappan and even after knowing he is a dangerous criminal, she is adamant on teaching him a lesson.

Director Rosshan Andrrews and writer Unni R focus on this genuine issue that needs to be discussed by the society and packages the movie in a gripping manner. The duration of the movie is just over 100 minutes, which makes it crisp. The visuals and the music are good.

Manju Warrier performs her well written role with dedication and confidence. The surprise here is a brilliant performance from Rosshan Andrrews, who makes a spectacular debut as an actor playing the baddie. Anusree, Alancier, Saiju Kurup and Grace Antony are good.

Usually the feeling is that such humiliating experiences are so common in such crowded places and women have to go through all of it silently, but the trauma that she goes through is often conveniently forgotten in the process.

Prathi Poovankozhi hits you hard and would definitely makes the viewer think. Go for it!
