Rajamma @ Yahoo
Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Nikki Galrani, Anusree
The first thing that looks curious about debutant director Reghu Rama Varma’s Rajamma @ Yahoo is its title. It denotes the heroes, Michael Rajamma aka Rajamma (Kunchacko Boban) and Vishnu Yohannan aka Yahoo (Asif Ali).
They are brothers, who inherited a bungalow in the heart of Kozhikode, after the death of their parents. They are not ready to do any work and find a living by renting out portions of their house.
It’s evident that the story has a limited scope beyond this point and the rest of the drama is scenarist M Sindhuraj’s escapades to fill in the rest of the film’s duration.
In that process, Rajamma and Yahoo fight against each other, booze, romance and takes on the baddies. Yahoo is in love with Nasi (Anusree), who comes and stays in the house, along with her mother.
Rajamma is smitten instantly by the charms of Sherin (Nikki Galrani) and just as you felt the story is all set to end happily, there comes another twist to the tale. And in case you are not bored by the main plot, there are some sub plots, just to kill time.
It’s a pity that these topline actors are wasting their talents on such inane stories, which tests the patience of the viewers big time.
Kunchacko Boban and Asif Ali have done their roles in a half-hearted manner. Anusree looks fine, while Nikki Galrani maintains a single expression all along. Imagine a comedy with not even a single scene that makes you laugh. To add to your woes, the two romantic pairs share no chemistry whatsoever.
Rajamma @ Yahoo is just as absurd as its tasteless title. Those guys who sit in groups at the roadside teashops can crack better jokes than what this one offers. Now, decide on your own.
